Report Submission: Handling Errors and Warnings
Updated
When you upload a report, Dwelling Blocks submits it to the GSE (through UCDP) or HUD. Sometimes it comes back with feedback:
- Warning: does not block the report. Acknowledge it, or upload a revised report.
- Error: blocks the report until it is fixed.
The submission does not finish until every item is cleared.
Start by reading the feedback
Warnings and errors usually say what is wrong, so read the full message first.
- Open the assignment.
- In Completed Reports, below Notes, click View Details on the most recent report.
- Open GSE/HUD Feedback. Each item is marked Error or Warning, with its source (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac or HUD) and code.
The feedback comes from the GSE or HUD. We pass it on, but we cannot change it.
Who fixes it
The appraiser. Dwelling Blocks is a software platform, not an Appraisal Management Company. We do not have access to your report, so we cannot tell you which field is wrong or whether a warning applies, and we cannot check a fix.
Warnings
The status reads Acknowledgement Required, shown as Action Required on the assignment tile. A warning means the report can go ahead, and whether to change anything is your call.
- It does not apply, or the report is right: click Acknowledge. The report goes ahead as uploaded.
- You want to change the report: upload the revised report to Completed Reports instead. Acknowledge does not resubmit anything.
Acknowledge is greyed out? The report also has errors to clear first.
Errors
The usual fix: correct the report in your report writer using what the error says, then export it again and upload the new file to Completed Reports. Keep your report writer up to date, and run its built-in check before exporting if it has one.
When the report looks right but still fails
You see the information in the report PDF, but the GSE or HUD checks the report data (XML). If that data is corrupted, or a value is in the wrong format or field, the submission can fail even though the PDF looks right. Check that:
- the report type matches the assignment
- your report writer's export settings are correct
- the report uses a UAD / GSE-compliant form, if the assignment requires one
Still failing? Contact your report writer's support team with the exact error message. They can see how the report was set up.
You can request a manual upload, but the lender submits the same file, so they may get the same error.
Override Required
The lender can choose to override this error, but it is not guaranteed. If the error is in the report itself, they may still ask you to correct it.
Fix the report and upload it again. If it still fails, use Request Override on the report details page and explain why. See Request Report Error Override.
Errors about the order details
If the error is about the order, such as a wrong report type or FHA case number, you cannot fix it from your side. Add a note on the assignment with Request a response checked, and ask the lender to update the order or proceed with a manual upload.
Upload Failed
The file never reached Dwelling Blocks, so nothing was submitted. Something on your browser or device is usually blocking it.
Upload again on a stable connection and stay on the page until it finishes. If it fails again, wait about 10 minutes and try a different browser or your mobile phone, or temporarily turn off antivirus or firewall software if it is safe to do so.
Errors not related to the report
Some errors are not about the report at all, for example:
- the GSE or HUD service is down or under maintenance
- a duplicate submission, or a submission that was already received
Read the message: it usually says what to do next, such as contacting Dwelling Blocks support. You can also use Request Manual Upload and explain the error in your note. The lender is notified and your original submission date is kept. If they decline, their explanation appears as a note on the assignment. See Request Manual Report Submission.
If a service was down, you can also upload again once it is back. We post outages and maintenance on status.dbx.sh, where you can subscribe to updates.
Still stuck?
If the error has no explanation, or the page is not working, use Get Support or email support@dwellingblocks.com, and include the loan number or a screenshot of the error.
