Assignment Email Notifications
Updated
The Watch and Unwatch button at the top of an assignment page controls whether you receive that assignment's notification emails.
If the assignment is yours, you are already watching it. The assignee watches their own assignment by default, so its emails reach you without you doing anything.
Watch an assignment
An administrator, with access to all of the company's assignments, can also watch an assignment that is not theirs to get its notifications:
- Go to the assignment details page.
- Click the Watch button.
While you are watching an assignment you receive every related notification email, including all assignment updates.
Unwatch an assignment
Click Unwatch at the top of the page to pause email notifications for that assignment. Click Watch again to resume them.
Unsubscribe from an email
Every assignment email has an Unsubscribe button. Clicking it stops that assignment's emails for you, the same as Unwatch. To subscribe again, open the assignment and click Watch.
Only you can change it for yourself
The setting is per person and per assignment. Each user has their own on every assignment they can open, and only that user can change it. When an administrator clicks Watch or Unwatch on an assignment, it changes the administrator's own setting, not anyone else's.
Not getting emails on an assignment?
If you are not receiving emails for an assignment, work through these in order.
- Check the button at the top of the assignment. If it says Watch, notifications are off for you on that assignment. Click it to turn them back on.
- Open the assignment's Activity History. If notifications were stopped, it shows when and how: someone clicked Unwatch, or the Unsubscribe button in one of the assignment's emails was used.
- Turn them back on. Click Watch on the assignment. If a teammate is missing the emails, they need to log in and click Watch themselves — an administrator clicking it only turns notifications on for the administrator.
- If you were watching and nothing stopped it, the problem is delivery rather than this setting. Check that Suppress All Notifications is off on your profile, then look at your delivery log — see Troubleshooting Email and SMS Delivery.
